Control4 and Savant could be the first listed home automation companies
Savant Systems recently considered taking up its corporate offering, which would make it the second listed company to focus only on home automation systems. The other company, Control4, has been publicly traded (CTRL) since 2013 and markets an incredible range of automation systems as well as professional installation staff to install everything if you are not comfortable with it yourself.
Control4 is different from Apple's HomeKit and Home Depot's Wink "system address. Control4 has its own controllers, touch screens, shades, thermostats and more. In short, instead of trying to establish communication with multiple providers and adapt to each growing and changing series of communication protocols and control centers, Control4 simply brings its own branding devices into play to provide a fully customizable packaging system.
The flexibility of purchasing your own components and integrating your home theater, audio or climate system into your controller means you, like any other system, can choose how much you want to add to begin with. If money is tight, invest in a climate control system, a touch screen and a control center. The app comes with it and gives you full control over your HVAC locally and remotely and of course with occupancy sensors or planning better control to maintain the right temperature in the house based on who is. They also offer built-in window shades that are automatically lowered at certain times of the day to block the sun's rays and prevent them from heating your interior and making your air conditioner work again.
Sound systems can be cumbersome, keep track of a digital library, want to stream from different places, or just different people who want to listen to different music in different places. Control4 has simplified the process by creating a digital media server and amplifier that can serve up to 8 zones, as well as streaming music from all your favorite places AND storing your entire digital library, easily accessible from any smartphone with the Control4 app or central control panel.
Control4 can handle safety, sound and lighting systems as well as video and climate control throughout the house. It's not that you can not do any of these things with Wink or HomeKit or Iris, it's just that if you can afford it, all the pieces are designed to integrate well with each other without having to patch , correct or search. for devices that need specialized controls.
The emergence of the Savant IPO will be another important step towards mainstream home automation companies and will continue to pique the interest of companies that can provide automation components and systems at an affordable price.
